Synopsis

Tempus edax rerum – this is true also accordingly to texts, especially these (what is crucial and specific for 17th Polish culture) written only in manuscripts. “The Crumbs” is a collection of studies presenting discovered in silva rerum, completely unknown, or lost poems (edited in annexes). Their diversity and curiosity (there are here nobel erotics, Polish Brother’s religion poetry, poems created during Moscow captivity, and clocks ekphrases) not only attracts attention but also enriches the Polish old literature image. It, by some details, brings closer to important patterns of Polish baroque tradition and mentality.

Author Biography

Maria Barłowska, University of Silesia in Katowice

Dr hab., profesor w Instytucie Literaturoznawstwa Uniwersytetu Śląskiego. Jej zainteresowania naukowe obejmują: piśmiennictwo epok dawnych, edytorstwo i retorykę. W ostatnich latach opublikowała książki: Swada i milczenie. Zbiory oratorskie XVII–XVIII wieku – prolegomena filologiczne (Katowice 2010), „Nasz Kochanowski”. Studia z recepcji poety w wieku XVII (Katowice 2014). Przygotowała edycje krytyczne: Mateusz Bembus, Wizerunk szlachcica prawdziwego w kazaniu na pogrzebie Andrzeja Boboli (Warszawa 2016, Biblioteka Dawnej Literatury Popularnej i Okolicznościowej, t. 27) i wraz z Małgorzatą Ciszewską – Jakub Sobieski, Mowy pogrzebowe (Warszawa 2019, Biblioteka Pisarzy Staropolskich, t. 45).
