Published in the series Czytaj po polsku. Materiały pomocnicze do nauki języka polskiego jako obcego, Sławomir Mrożek’s works, including a one-act play entitled Na pełnym morzu [Out At Sea] and a short story List w butelce [A Letter in a Bottle], prepared by Maria Wacławek, are aimed at people learning Polish at an intermediate level (B1–B2). The pieces are quoted in the original, but for teaching purposes, the one-act play has been slightly shortened. The tasks provided in the book are based on the grammatical and lexical material used in both texts. The publication can be used by students learning Polish as a foreign/second/inherited language who want to improve their language skills on their own, teachers while working with a language class group, as well as Polish readers interested in contemporary Polish literature who want to shape their linguistic and cultural competences in the field of Polish language and culture. The book was prepared in consideration of the examination standards of the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language.
