Synopsis

The book is an interdisciplinary study in economics and sociology, based on existing materials and own research. The analysis is based on research under the international project: "Social and Cultural Mechanisms of In- and Exclusion: a Comparative Perspective" Life and Work Strategies of the Generation 55 to 65: Their Position on the Labor Market, Obstacles and Wishes”, organized by the University of Ostrava, in which the co-author was a participant. On the basis of the existing materials, the 55+ generation of Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary, as well as the factors influencing its professional activity, are characterized. In own research, the status of the respondents on the labor market is discussed. The needs met by the current professional work are analysed. The problems of the respondents' activities outside of work are also discussed.

Author Biographies

Urszula Swadźba, University of Silesia in Katowice

Profesor socjologii, kierownik Zakładu Socjologii Ogólnej (2009–2019). Zainteresowania badawcze to socjologia wartości (szczególnie wartości pracy), problematyka śląska, świadomość ekonomiczna. Autorka ponad 200 książek i artykułów o tej problematyce. Współpracuje z uczelniami Czech, Słowacji i Węgier. Koordynator Visegrad Standard Grant „The economic awareness of the young generation of Visegrad countries”  w latach 2015–2016.  Ostatnio skupiała się na badaniach aktywności pokolenia 55+ trzech krajów: Polski, Czech i Węgier. Stanisław Swadźba, University of Economics in Katowice

Profesor ekonomii, kierownik Zakładu Systemów Gospodarczych (1998–2018). Aktywność badawcza oraz dorobek naukowo-badawczy skoncentrowane są wokół współczesnej gospodarki światowej, w tym głównie problematyki globalizacji i integracji gospodarczej oraz analizy porównawczej systemów gospodarczych. Autor/współautor ponad 200 publikacji (monografii naukowych oraz artykułów w polskich i zagranicznych czasopismach naukowych). W latach 1998–2018 kierował 21 projektami badawczymi w ramach badań statutowych. [13.12.2023]
