Synopsis

The monograph presents the theory of the generative parent, whose presence facilitates the development of outstanding personality traits in children. Studies of human excellence and genius illuminate the influence of biological (intelligence), psychological (openness, criticism, perseverance and persistence of the individual), cultural (the level of socio-economic development of societies) and environmental (family, school) factors. The presented research on Polish Nobel Prize winners (Miłosz, Reymont, Sienkiewicz, Skłodowska-Curie, Szymborska) and other outstanding representatives of Polish culture and science (Bauman, Chopin, Conrad-Korzeniowski, Kantor, Kapuściński, Kieślowski, Kilar, Kołakowski, Korczak, Lem, Łukasiewicz, Malinowski, Paderewski, Tischner, Wojtyła) focuses its attention on the importance of the family home in the maturation of their talent. The case study method has allowed to provide insight into, among other things, marital relations, parenting styles, emotional bond with the child, social background of parents, their interests, ways of spending leisure time, which, in turn, has made it possible to develop a model of the parent and identify material and social conditions whose occurrence is conducive to the expression of outstanding personality traits in children (high parental format, parental mindfulness, parental generative need, reading books at home, average wealth).
