Synopsis

The Saga of the Jomsvikings was written at the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries. It stands out for its compositional style, as it contains elements characteristic of kings’ sagas, family sagas, and legendary sagas. Its intriguing plot contributed to its great popularity in the Middle Ages. References to the legend of the Vikings from Jomsborg can also be found in other Old Norse sources.
