Synopsis

The book concerns the communication policy of local governments in Poland. It contains data from research conducted in 200 local government units on the use of various instruments of communication with citizens and the results of surveys on the social reception of communication at the local level. It is a continuation of research published in 2013, which allows for the identification of changes that have occurred in the communication of local governments over the last 10 years.

Habilitated doctor of social sciences, Professor at the Institute of Journalism and Media Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Silesia in Katowice. She conducts research on the psychological impact of media and is particularly interested in local communication issues and communication subjectivity in various spheres of social life. [18.12.2025]

Monika Kornacka-Grzonka, University of Silesia in Katowice

PhD in social sciences, assistant professor at the Institute of Journalism and Media Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Silesia in Katowice. In her scientific work, she deals with issues related to communication and local media, new media, and the identity and subjectivity of local communities. [18.12.2025]

Agata Zygmunt-Ziemianek, University of Silesia in Katowice

PhD in sociology, assistant professor at the Institute of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Silesia in Katowice. At the centre of her research interests are issues connected with social demography, social policy, sociology of social problems, sociology of gender, and higher education didactics. She has conducted more than 30 research projects and research-expert commissioned works in cooperation with local government units and non-governmental organizations. [18.12.2025]
