Synopsis

The aim of this study is to diagnose the level of health literacy among students in the context of their experiences related to participation in school health education. Health literacy denotes the ability to understand, interpret, and critically analyse information connected with health, prevention, and treatment. The impulse to undertake research in this field stemmed from the conviction of the crucial role played by health education and health socialisation in shaping an individual’s health and well-being at every stage of life. The publication also serves as an analysis of educational practice in health education implementation, highlighting existing barriers and the frequent lack of consistency between legal regulations and the realities of everyday school practice. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce systemic solutions that will enable effective, coherent, and multidimensional implementation of health education within the Polish educational system.
