Synopsis

This monograph addresses selected issues in the field of Polish phonetics and the teaching of Polish pronunciation. The publication presents, among other things, a phonological typology of the world’s languages, establishing the place that Polish occupies on the linguistic map. It discusses issues related to teaching Polish pronunciation to foreigners, taking into account the articulation difficulties of various national groups. The work also includes information on the phonetic equivalents of the letters ą and ę, stress and intonation, as well as changes in the phonetics and phonological system of the Polish language due to the influence of foreign languages on Polish. The theoretical discussion is supplemented by a test that allows the reader to assess their competence in the field of articulatory phonetics and the teaching of Polish pronunciation to foreigners.
