Synopsis

Invisible Cartographies: A Journey Through Katowice’s Niche Art Initiatives is a guide to a lesser-known side of the city’s art scene. Based on field research and interviews with people who create and run independent art spaces and grassroots art initiatives, it explores their diversity, ways of working, and the role they play in local communities. The proposed route takes readers through places outside the mainstream institutional art circuit, revealing a less familiar side of Katowice’s cultural life. The publication grew out of a project developed at the College of Individual Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Silesia as part of the Miscellaneous Problems module.
