Synopsis
In the book, I analyze specific narratives based on a genre scheme in which, despite everything, the plot of solving an exceptionally serious crime – murder – should dominate. I assumed that each of the stories analyzed either fully follows this scheme or is largely opposed to it. I therefore attempt to show the essence of a crime series, i.e., crime and its social, cultural, and economic consequences. To a large extent, my proposal reflects contemporary society – regardless of the setting (ethnic, historical, big-city narrative, or Poland B). I also draw attention to the specific precision of the series's expression – the number of episodes, location, and casting decisions. This selection is only a preview of further activities – I treat this small monograph as the first part of a three-part story about Polish series (including crime series, thrillers, social series, and romances) that have attracted and polarized Polish audiences in recent years.
