Synopsis
The publication is the second volume of the series: "The World in Polish". This is a series addressed to students of various humanities and social sciences, especially those related to multiculturalism and multiethnicity, contacts of languages and cultures, ethnography and anthropology, etc., as well as students and teachers. The book Did the Kyrgyz get off his horse? Customs, language and culture of Kyrgyzstan through the eyes of a Kyrgyz Polish teacher is intended to introduce readers to an extremely attractive, exotic culture that is very little known in Poland, although its roots lie in the distant past. The title of the publication refers (is a paraphrase) to the well-known reportage by R. Kapuściński and refers to it in one of the chapters, trying to shed light on the actual ethnic origin of the titular rider. The author of the main text and the authors-editors of additional texts present Kyrgyzstan through its complicated history, cultural realities, onomastics, topography, etc. The book will be an important publication that will show the next scope of research and teaching activities of the University of Silesia.
